Breast Augmentation

Submuscular Breast Enlargement

This procedure is an ideal way to improve the size and shape of women's breasts. We perform breast enlargement by introducing an implant just behind the pectoral muscle and with a retrofacial approach but this would be decided by you and the surgeon. As with all our patients we make a case-by-case evaluation based on your wishes; in our first appointment with you we will discuss your wishes and expectations with respect to the size and form of the breasts for you.

The breast implant will not interfere with breast milk production for breast feeding mothers and will not leave visible scars because the incision is made in the pigmented skin area of the areola (nipple). Because every patient is unique we have at our disposal a variety of different breast implant techniques depending on tactile and size factors, and given the surgeon's as well as the patient's opinion.

After the breast augmentation surgery we will provide you with information regarding your breast enlargement, specifically the serial number of breast implants used in the operation.

Surgery Information: No over night stay

Anesthesia: Epidural Sedation

After Surgery Care

Having completed the breast augmentation surgery it is important that you take into account the following recommendations:

  • The patient can return home the same day.

  • The patient should wear a post-surgery bra for approximately 1 month.

  • Someone should accompany the patient for the first 24 hours after breast surgery to help the patient complete normal daily tasks without too much activity

  • We recommend that for the first 3 days the patient sleeps in a semi-upright position.

  • The patient may experience discomfort after the operation but these are normally tolerable; the surgeon will recommend medication to help you cope with any discomfort that may arise.

  • You should eat healthy foods after breast surgery, including vegetables, fruit, lean meat and plenty of water

  • You can resume normal activities around 48 hours after the breast augmentation surgery

  • We recommend that you begin post-surgical treatment after the 3rd day following the breast augmentation, specifically ultrasound.

  • Post surgical treatment is an important part of a breast augmentation because it helps reduce swelling, maintains and optimizes the breast surgery to ensure a more efficient and fast recovery.

  • Try to avoid driving for the first 15 days.

  • Avoid raising your arms for the first week.

  • Avoid strenuous activities for the first month.

  • The stitches will be removed approximately 10-15 days after the breast enlargement.

  • Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol both of which interfere with the wound recovery.

  • In case of any concerns it is recommended that you consult the surgeon directly rather than consulting other people who may have had breast surgery.

  • Recovery does not happen immediately and the exact recovery period varies a lot depending on many physiological factors.
